Microdermabrasion was originally performed by a dermatologist or surgeon under anaesthetic using a motorised wire brush head that would take off the epidermis. The downtime would be around 2 weeks with a high risk of infection after the treatment. In the mid 8-80’s the treatment was reinvented, and a machine was created that used vacuum suction and crystals to gently lift off dead skin cells. By the 2000’s the treatment had gained popularity and across Europe.

Microdermabrasion is a facial treatment which uses fine crystals and a vacuum to remove dead skin cells. The treatment helps to reduce minor scarring, wrinkles, fine lines, and age spots and leaves the skin looking smoother.
